Insurance scheme for the poor to cover 80 lakh people
Hyderabad, March 6, 2007The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy will launch 'Arogyasri- the State Government's insurance scheme for the poor at Mahabubnagar on March 31,2007. The insurance scheme would cover 80 lakh people of 23 lakh families having white ration cards in three districts viz., Srikakulam, Anantapur and Mahabubnagar.
The scheme would be extended to other districts in a phased manner. These people will be treated free of cost for six major diseases viz., cancer, Neuro, cardiac problems, renal, burns and accidents. The treatment also includes surgeries. One Arogyasri coordinator will be stationed at each primary health centre and government hospital for helping the patients.
The premium would be Rs. 330 per family and the entire amount would be paid by the government. Depending upon the nature of accident, affected persons can take admission in any Government or private clinic For this, all government and private hospitals will be contacted and advised by the insurance company.
