Regularization of contract employees amongst demands

The APSRTC Employees Union on Sunday served a strike notice to the management to go on strike from April 16 if their demands are not met. According to B. Rama Rao, 32 issues were mentioned in the notice including allocation of Rs. 250 crore per annum to the RTC for strengthening the corporation as suggested by IIM Bangalore, increasing of the number of buses, stopping of closure of bus depots. Prominent among the demands are regularization of casual labor appointed before 1999 as promised by the management.
The APSRTC management has increased the wage of casual drivers and conductors. According to NMU president M. Nageswara Rao, the daily wage payment of drivers was increased from Rs. 160 to Rs. 165 and that of drivers it is from Rs. 130 to Rs. 135 and will be effective from Sunday.
