19 new ambulances to be added soon
Prakasam, March 28, 2007
Thanks to the National Rural Health Mission, Prakasam district will get about 19 ambulances. The ambulances will be run by Satyam's 108 Service and will be used for transportation of pregnant women and children and in medical emergencies. Each of the 108 ambulance will be equipped with a Doctor, two well trained nurses and a lab technician.
District Medical and Health Officer, Dr Sonarbabu said that about 2500 women volunteers are trained in the district who will be used for spreading awareness of health to the people in the region. The volunteers will also be of help in medical cases such as delivery and educating the people on family planning. The Health Department will be paying them honorarium and incentives depending on their performance.
