Scheme initially to be implemented in three districts
Hyderabad, March 27, 2007The scheme 'Arogya Sri' which is meant to extend multi specialty treatment to the families of below poverty line that will entitle to Rs.1.5 lakh worth of treatment for diseases ranging from cancer to burns. The scheme will be implemented on a pilot basis in Srikakulam, Anantapur and Mahabubnagar districts covering 23,16,424 below poverty line families comprising a population of 83,39,354.
The Chief Minister has directed on Tuesday to the officials to press into service 4500 ambulances to shift patients to the hospitals in case of emergences. He will inaugurate the programme at Mahabubnagar.
According to a press release, the Government has entered into a collaboration with Star Health and Allied Insurance company and signed an MoU on March 8, 2007. The Chief Minister asked the officials to ensure proper coordination among Arogya Sri Health Care Trust, the Medical and Health Department, District Collector and the Civil Supplies Department along with the insurance company.
