Stages dharna demanding stopping of barrage works
Hyderabad, March 25, 2007Legislators of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) returned back after the Maharashtra Police denied entry near the Babli Barrage project site. Earlier, the legislators led by senior party leader T. Devender Goud and N. Janardhan Reddy started to Babli from Hyderabad early in the morning. Maharashtra Police stopped the legislators near the border of Nanded district stating that prohibitory orders are in place near the project place.
The TDP legislators then began protesting this and staged a 2-hour dharna. Devender Goud spoke with the Maharashtra Home Minister who returned the call to Nanded SP. However since the situation might turn into tense, the TDP legislators have returned back. Traffic in the Andhra - Maharashtra border got stalled.
