Hyderabad, March 23, 2007

Accusing the State Government of failing to expedite the construction works of Devanagari project's tail pond, the members of the Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) staged a walkout in the Assembly. Before leaving the Assembly, the TRS floor leader G Vijayawada Rama Rao alleged that the Government was not showing the same interest for the construction of the tail pond as displayed for Polavaram and Pothyreddipadu projects.

Reacting to the allegation, the Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that the tail pond was being executed speedily and so far 30 percent of the overall works were completed. The first consignment would be despatched in June.

The Minister for Major Irrigation Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that the Bhadra Lift Irrigation project proposed by the Karnataka Government was still under investigation.
