PACS chief to be invited to MPP meet

Hyderabad, March 23, 2007

The Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy inaugurates the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of AP Markfed on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACSs) would be invited as special invitees to the Manda Praja Parishad (MPP) General Body meetings. He announced that a notification to this effect will be issued soon.

The Chief Minister said that the Government is taking every step to strengthen institutions which were neglected during the previous government. He expressed his happiness over Markfed's turnover crossed Rs.500 crores last year and was about to reach Rs.1000 crore in a couple of years.

The Minister for Cooperation Kanna Lakshminarayana said that cooperative societies should be active in marketing to rescue farmers from using adulterated seeds and fertilizers. Markfed president Ponnam Prabhakar, MD Y Madusudana Reddy, the Minister for Agriculture, N Raghuveera Reddy and other participated on the occasion.
