Vijayawada, March 20, 2007

The Vijayawada Police Commissioner, CV Anand on Tuesday suspended a Circle Inspector of Police, an SI and a constable and issued memos to 11 other constables for dereliction of duties. He also removed two home guards on the same charges.

According to available information, the Circle Inspector Raja Rao belonging to Anti Goonda Squad has been placed under suspension for his failure to mobilize the rowdy sheeters for the counselling organized by the Commissioner. He also found to be proving wrong addresses of the rowdy sheeters and enable them to evade the counselling session. Similarly, the Ibrahimpatnam Sub Inspector Jaya Surya along with his home guard was suspended for his failure to track the accused in the Ghousia Begam case.

In the Shantan Kumar case, the CP issued charge memos to CIs Raja Rao, Lakshmipathi, Ramana Murty and Jagannatha Rao for not acting in time to prevent attack on Kumar despite advanced alerts. The Commissioner said that he was constrained to take touch action as his warning have no effect on the police officials.
