Hyderabad, March 18, 2007Ignoring the decision of the State Government to advance Telugu New Year's Day by one day ie. on 19th, majority of the temples across the State are celebrating on March 20.
The priests of major temples like Kanakadurga temple, Srisailam, Simhachalam, Annavaram and including Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam are preparing to conduct the prescribed rituals for the Sarwajit Nama Samvastsara on March 20.
According the Chief Priest of Lord Venkateswara temple, AV Ramana Deekshithulu in Tirumala and Agama Advisor to the TTD said that in view of solar eclipse and is being an Amavasya on March 19, Ugadi is proposed to be observed on Tuesday. He pointed out that according to tradition, the Hindus were not expected to touch any object nor do any work during the eclipse period.
