Demands inquiry and repoll
Hyderabad, March 17, 2007The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Saturday demanded an inquiry into all instances where Ministers, Congress MLAs and others, breached the secrecy of the ballot in the Council elections. They sought repoll in 19 polling stations across the state where such instances took place.

The delegation of TDP leaders submitted five memoranda to the Chief Electoral Officer V. Bhaskar as per the reports they received from the various districts.
Meanwhile, the Minister for School Education, N. Rajya Lakshmi adopted the open ballot system in the elections to the Local Authorities Constituencies despite CEO's warning that if any one resorts to open ballot method, his/her vote will become invalid in addition to legal action stipulated by the Election Commission. She made a deaf eye to the presiding officer's plea to maintain secrecy while casting vote.
