Lands distributed to SCs
Vijayanagaram, March 14, 2007Under the Indira Prabha integrated land development scheme, 191.53 acres of land have been distributed to 105 SCs at the rate of 1.8 acre per head in Badangi, Ramabhadrauram and Gajapatinagaram mandals in the district.
The lands have been cleared of the bushes and cultivation of various horticultural crops was taken up. The secretary of the Gamaikhya Sangham of Rayavalsa village told to the media that the saplings were brought from Kadiyam in East Godavari district and 40 saplings were planted per acre. He said a sum of Rs. 5,500 has been spent on each acre.
The District Water Management Agency Project Director S Krishna Murthy speaking to reporters that 15,945 acres of land was distributed to 21,930 beneficiaries in the district till now. A total of 160 bore wells were dug in the district. Mango and Cashew saplings were planted in 15,545 acres and inter crops were under cultivation, he added.
