Three committees to identify strategies

Hyderabad, March 1, 2007

The Lok Satta National Coordinator N. Jayaprakash Narayan speaking to media on Thursday said it constituted three committees with experts to identify strategies, which are clear and practical for implementation. The Committees so formed will study on health care, school education and higher education were constituted. G. Pratibha Rao, D. Somasunder and B. Satyanarayana were Convenors of the Committees respectively. He said that it will soon constitute committees in the sectors like skill promotion, employment, agriculture and rural incomes, electricity, urban management, women's empowerment and liquor control and anti poverty strategies, district government, police and judicial reforms.

He commented that the political parties had failed to provide concrete practical suggestions to deal with various problems faced by the country. These committees were provided with specific objectives and terms of reference so that their suggestions would be part of the national agenda.

He said that the experts' drafts in the committee for health care include Ramon Magasaysay awardee RS Arole, G. Nageswara Rao of LV Prasad Eye Institute, D. Nageswara Reddy of Asian Institute of Gastroenterology. B. Soma Raju of CARE hospital, former Vice Chancellor B. Swamy and K. Anji Reddy. The committee on school education has former IAS officer Dephne De Rebello, K. Illaiah from OU, Indira Koneru from ICFAI University and Shanta Sinha while higher education committee would comprise CCMB former director D. Balasubramanian, former Vice Chancellor DC Reddy and PRK Rao from IITT.
