Hyderabad, June 9, 2007The Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy said on Saturday that the State Government would promulgate an ordinance effecting Muslim reservations. Speaking a number of sops to Muslims, he announced introduction of free mid day meal scheme in madarsas. He declared the birthday of Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad as 'Minority Welfare Day' in the State which would be dedicated exclusively to address the problems of minorities.
The Chief Minister describing Muslim reservations as the subject close to his heart at a function organized by Urdu Academy of Andhra Pradesh for distribution of computers to madarsas, he said that within a month, the government would be in a position to overcome all the hurdles.
He distributed computers to 26 madarsas and presented a cheque for Rs. 10,000 to Rubina Begam, fifth ranker in Intermediate Public examinations. Ministers Mohd.Ali Shabbir, Mohd.Fareduddin and M Mukesh Goud and Urdu Academy Chairman Raheemuddin Ansari were among the prominent personalities present on the occasion.
