Restoration of Irrigation tanks
Hyderabad, June 7, 2007The State Government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Union Government and the World Bank on Friday on restoration of nearly 3000 odd irrigation tanks in the State. The MoU will be signed in the presence of the Union Finance Minister, P Chidambaram and Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
The AP Community Based Tank Management Project will be implemented at a cost of nearly Rs. 1044 crore over a period of five years. The project was initiated as a part of the Centre's national framework for scaling up the tank restoration programme in four States. The Centre will provide 25 percent financial support as grant and the remaining would come as loan from the World Bank.
