New allowances to be effective from January 1, 2007

The State Government on Wednesday approved the Government's decision to hike the dearness allowance of its staff and pensioners with effect from January 1, 2007. The enhanced DA at the rate of 5.6 percent of basic pay and cumulative rate of 24.4 percent of basic pay will benefit 13.45 lakh employees of government, local bodies, aided institutions, and universities.
The State Cabinet also approved an ad hoc increase of Rs. 50 a month in the remuneration to part time assistants and village servants from January 1, 2007 said the Minister for Information, A Ramanarayana Reddy. Due to increase of the DA, the State exchequer would incur an additional burden of Rs. 645.75 crore annually.
