Government to maintain status quo on transfers
Hyderabad, June 29, 2007The Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal on Friday stayed the Chief Secretary's orders for sending non local employees of Hyderabad Collectorate back to the native districts. The orders came a day before the deadline fixed by the Government for repatriation of non local employees in tune with GO 610.
The Chief Secretary had ordered the repatriation of 42 non locals of whom 12 approached the AP Administrative Tribunal and obtained stay. They contended that it was futile to implement the order issued in 1985. Tribunal member K Satyanarayana Rao who heard the petition ordered the Government to maintain status quo on their transfers and posted the matter to July 10. Earlier last week, several police constables from Hyderabad city who were issued repatriation orders challenged the orders and obtained a similar stay from the Tribunal.
Meanwhile, at a round table meeting of employee's organizations on implementation of GO 610, speakers were unanimous that the order should be implemented in tune with the spirit of Presidential Order 1975. Activists of TRS Vidyardhi Sangham staged a demonstration outside the venue of the round table demanding that the APNGO's leader tender an apology to TRS president for using objectionable language. The police arrested the protesters and whisked them away.
