Anil Ambani calls on the Chief Minister

Explains the company policy on Gas to the Chief Minister

Hyderabad, June 26, 2007

It may be recalled that the State Government has requested the Centre not to enhance the price of natural gas. The Chairman of Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) Anil Ambani on Tuesday met the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy at his camp office. The meeting lasted for about 25 minutes.

It is understood that Ambani has explained his company's policy about the price of natural gas and also about the outcome of the meeting with the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in Delhi that was held a fortnight ago. The Reliance Group which has struck huge reserves of gas in the Krishna-Godavari basin has fixed the gas price by quoting an upset price of US $4.6 per Million British Thermal Units.

However, after including transportation costs and other taxes and duties, he final price would be around US $6 Million British Thermal Units on par with international gas prices. The officials were reluctant to disclose the details of the meeting.
