Digvijay Singh advises Government not to ignore land issues

Says that emotional issues works against the Government

Hyderabad, June 20, 2007

AICC general secretary and in charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs Digvijay Singh on Wednesday cautioned the State leaders that land was an emotional issue and could work against the Congress government if remedial steps were not taken immediately to ensure that the landless got land. Referring to the Bhu poratam by CPI(M) and also infighting of sorts in Congress and the ruling party's inability to effectively implement welfare programmes appears to be worrying.

He clearly warned that the Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu will come to power again if the party and its leaders commit mistakes. He advised that the ensuring the needs of the majority were taken care of was a prerequisite if the party was to retain power. He was unhappy with the infighting among the party leaders in some districts and asked the Chief Minister and Party president to summon them and sort out the issues.

He expressed happiness over the functioning of Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy and at the same time cautioned the Chief Minister and PCC president K Keshava Rao not to depend on official reports and instead cross check the ground realities with the party workers that they should lodge complaints against their MLAs directly to him if they were found wanting in redressing public grievances.
