Hyderabad, June 16, 2007
The Medical Council of India (MCI) has cancelled as many as 600 seats in medical colleges across the State. The Private Medical and Dental Colleges' managements Association is planning to bring pressure on the Union Health Ministry for a direction to the MCI to restore the seats.
The Association has decided to make a representation to the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday urging him to persuade the Centre in the even of the MCI canceling seats and worse still derecognizing a couple of them.
While, this is so, the State Government too is concerned over the possibility of some medical seats being cancelled in State run colleges but in the absence of any communication from the Medical Council of India, the officials are keeping their fingers crossed.
