APSRTC to hire private buses

570 buses to hire from private entrepreneurs

Hyderabad, June 16, 2007

According to a press release issued by APSRTC, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has decided to procure 570 buses on hire from private operators in view of financial crunch.

The release stated that the buses to be procured from entrepreneurs included approximately 31 express, 184 ordinary, 267 'Palle Velugu', 23 Metro deluxe, 51 metro express and 14 mini district ordinary. The tenders for the vehicles would be called on June 21 and 22nd. Further details can be had from the Regional Managers at Hyderabad City Ranga Reddy, Nellore and Visakhapatnam.

The release further stated that the private buses were being procured to meet the growing demand in 2007-08. The APSRTC would add another 2,000 vehicles this year to its fleet of 19,30 buses.
