Government agrees to employees demands
Hyderabad, June 14, 2007The two day old nationwide strike by more than 12,000 employees of Indian Airlines was called on Thursday after an agreement reached with the airline management. Several flights cancelled across the country through the day, the maximum from Mumbai caused unbearable inconvenience to the passengers.
According to Civil Aviation secretary Ashok Chawla said after a three hour meeting between the management the agitating employees in the presence of the Chief Labour Commissioner, the issues have been settled amicably and the strike has been called off.
According to Ministry sources, the government has agreed to pay wage arrears by 2008 and also revoke suspension notices served on 23 striking employees. The package of Rs. 267 crore offered to the employees also stands good.
