Minister Buddha Prasad announces special package
Hyderabad, June 13, 2007The State Government has announced a Rs. 500 crore package for dairy development programmes. According to this package that includes distribution of cattle, sheep, goats and birds on subsidy to farmers. The Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development M Buddha Prasad said that nearly 136 milk chilling centres would be established in the State with an investment of Rs. 75 crore. Self Help Groups will be entrusted for maintenance of these centres at Mandal level.
He added in respect of shortage of veterinary doctors, the Government decide to increase the number of seats in veterinary colleges from the existing 175 to 300. The retired veterinary doctors will be recruited on a monthly payment of Rs. 8,000. Similarly, the government has also decided to increase the payment to para medical staff to Rs. 5,000.
Two dairy polytechnics would be established by Veterinary University at Rapur in Nellore and Siddipet in Medak district and a Fisheries Polytechnic will be established at Bavaevarapally in Krishna District.
