Court grants bail to Lingaiah in fake Passports case

Lingaiah has spent 45 days in jail

Hyderabad, June 11, 2007

K Lingaiah, a rebel TRS MLA who spent 45 days in jail on the charge of fake passport fraud case finally was granted bail on Monday. The 12th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate allowed his bail petition and directed him to furnish two sureties of Rs. 10,000 each.

It may be recalled that he had gone underground after Hyderabad Police registered a case 'suo motu' against him following media reports that he had fraudulently secured a passport for a Gujarati woman in his wife's name. After a few days, he surrendered before a local court and since then he was in judicial custody except a brief period when the cops took him for interrogation.
