Barely a day after Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that the Congress was prepared to go it alone in the next elections, APCC President D Srinivas, on his part, came up with a statement that the door of the party are always open to all opposition parties except the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharateeya Janatha Party (BJP).

Seven Congress MLAs quit from House Committee on GO 610

Hyderabad, June 1, 2007

Seven Congress MLAs from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions resigned from the House Committee on implementation of GO 610 on Friday after charging the members of Telangana of humiliating them at meetings of the panel.

Five MLAs met the Speaker KR Suresh Reddy at his residence and handed over their letters of resignation while the two announced their stand. The Speaker KR Suresh Reddy speaking to media said that these members appeared hurt by the developments at the meetings. He said he will discuss the matter with the Chairman of the Committee and sort out the issue.

Speaking at a press conference, Venkata Reddy and others said that the developments at the committee's deliberations made them feel that it was not desirable for them to continue in the interests of the State. He said that the said GO should be implemented within the purview of Presidential Order and six point formula.
