Seeks support of UPA allies
Hyderabad, July 6, 2007The UPA Presidential candidate Pratibha Patel on Friday addressing a joint session of MLAs and MPs of the Congress and Left Parties said that her commitment to the fellow citizens and the country would not waver because of the opposition slaught. She said that she would uphold the fundamental concepts of liberty, equality and justice and the basic value of social, economical and political justice.
She said that she is very much thankful to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister, Man Mohan Singh and other UPA leaders and the Left parties and all those who are supporting her candidature. She further added that after sixty years of Independence, a woman has been chosen to head the great democratic republic.
The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that the Opposition criticism made little sense. All through her more than four decade political carer none of those speaking against her now had mentioned the charges. It only reflected the political bankruptcy of the Opposition leaders and their intolerance towards a women.
