G Janardhana Reddy, one of the directors of Obulapuram Mining Company and promoters of Brahmani Steel Company on Tuesday filed two defamation petitions against TDP leaders and publishers of two Telugu newspapers in the Junior Civil Judge Court at Rayadurg.

He filed the defamation editions under Sections 500 and 501 of IPC, one against N Chandrababu Naidu and publishers of two newspapers viz., Ch Ramoji Rap and V Radhakrishna for using defamatory remarks against him by Chandrababu Naidu after he was invited by the petitioner to visit his mines and for publishing those remarks. In another petition that was filed against TDP MP MV Mysoora Reddy and publishers of two newspapers for the former's continuous defamatory remarks made against him between May 3 and 23.

Telugu Nadu Students Federation (TNSF), the students wing of TDP were arrested on Tuesday when they tried to burn an effigy of G Janardhana Reddy, promoter of OMC. According to Jubilee Hills Inspector Srinivasa Rao, a police party was patrolling the area on the information that there might be some form of protest near the house of Janardhana Reddy. Later in the afternoon, he lodged a complaint with the Jubilee Hills police alleging that a window pane was damaged in stone pelting and the police are investigating the matter.
