Puja to be performed at Priyadarshini Jurala Project
Hyderabad, July 20, 2007
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy will perform the Varuna Puja at Priyadarshini Jurala Project on the Krishna river in Mahabubnagar district on Saturday and at Nagarjunasagar on Sunday. Varuna Puja is the puja performed to please the God of Rains.
Dr. Reddy will offer similar prayers at Srisailam Reservoir and Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada next week. The prayers will be conducted as a form of thanksgiving since all the reservoirs are full to the brim due to heavy inflows. He said at a review meeting with irrigation officials on Friday that he is visiting the project sites to thank the rain God.
