Bank staff taken to forest blindfolded

At least ten assailants armed with axes and sticks waylaid a Tata Indica Car roughed up three persons including two employees of ING Vysya Bank and fled with nearly Rs. 1 crore in cash near Giddalur of Prakasam district on Thursday. When the two employees started out in the car bearing no.AP 21 TV6118 driven by a taxi driver from Nandyal. They kept the cash bag in the four wheeler's boot and were supposed to deliver it to their Vijayawada branch.
After they passed nearly 21 kilometers from Giddalur, the car driver pulled up the vehicle after noticing tree trunks lying across the road. As soon as they got down to remove the obstruction, the culprits pounced on them, blindfolded them and also bound their hands and took them in the car inside the forest and left them there.
According to Kurnool Superintendent of Police B Malla Reddy said that unlike other banks ING Vysya Bank does not seek police escort while transporting money. He opined that some of the bank staff passed on the information to the gangsters. The entire operation took place within an half an hour. The police are investigating the case in various angels. The car was left at a far off place in the forest area nearby railway track and the police are suspecting that the robbers might have alighted a train. They also sought the help of Railway Police in nabbing the culprits.
