State stands firs in domestic tourist arrivals

Speaking at a function, the Tourism Minister A Ramnarayan Reddy on Wednesday said that the Central Government had cleared the proposal of introducing 'Southern Splendour', the circular train carrying tourists through places of interest in South India in 2008. The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on this occasion released promotion material relating to tourism destinations in the State.
The Tourism Minister said that the tourism projects costing to Rs. 1,200 crore were under implementation in the public private partnership mode. Assembly Speaker KR Suresh Reddy was present on the occasion. He added that the tender process for 30 budget hotels all over the State had been completed and work would begin soon.
The Minister said that the tourism spots in the State would get a boost with the department signing an MoU with Air India for pacing on its 62 newly acquired aircraft AP Tourism promotion material, screening of a short film, display of posters and an audio programme. This was part from the display of the name 'Andhra Pradesh' on the fuselage of the new flight. The Secretary, Tourism, Chitra Ramachandran said a tourism cultural festival would be organized during the World Military Games scheduled to be held in the State during the year.
