Five member committee inspected the land
Adilabad, July 17, 2007A five member committee from the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development inspected the land on Tuesday. The committee comprising of SG Dhave, RK Yadav, DV Singh, Sanjeev Bhargav and Rajiv Mathur and expressed sanctification over the 500 acres of land at Kandi in Medak district for setting up of Indian Institute of Technology.
The committee members called on the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy and held discussions with him. Sources revealed that the Chief Minister responded to the suggestions made by them positively. Speaking to media persons, Rajiv Mathur said the location of the land allotted for IIT was found suitable. He said that the Government also assured to provide necessary infrastructure.
He said that it will take time for construction of buildings and creating other infrastructure. He added that the committee requested the government to provide temporary accommodation so that IIT can start functioning at the earliest. The ministry will spend nearly Rs. 1,000 crore in seven years on the institute.
