Special Investigation Cell probing cell phone communication
Hyderabad, July 16, 2007Officials of the Special Investigating Cell (SIC) who are probing the Mecca Masjid blast that took place on May 18 on Monday arrested one Mohammed Abdul Karem Quadri allegedly working as a courier for the most wanted terrorist Shahed alias Bilal believed to be the master mind of the Mecca Masjid Blast. Bilal is associated with various terror groups including Harkat-Ul-Jihad-e-Islami (HUJI) Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
According to police sources, Kareem Quadri, a resident of Asmangadh in Malakpet was running a watch repair shop near Malakpet TV Tower. Sources says that he was constant touch with Bilal and was passing on various information over telephone. The police also seized some provocative CDs from Kareem Quadri.
The 26 year old Kareem Quadri was in touch with Bilal since 2002 and used to talk frequently over his mobile phone which was seized. The officials of SIC are probing the call details. He is said to have been providing logistical support to some fundamentalists in the city. According to reliable sources, he was providing shelter at his house and also allegedly in touch some fundamentalists based in Bangladesh and Pakistan.
