Demands to incorporate Kapus in the list of BCs

Hyderabad, July 15, 2007

The United Forum of Kapu, Munnuru Kapu, Toorpu Kapu, Balija, Telaga and Ontari Kapu communities demanded an immediate issuance of Government Order incorporating Kapus in the list of BCs. The founder president, T Ramesh Naidu said that the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy had assured on March 13 through legislator K Ramulu and others that the demand would be considered.

As the demand has been conceded and another session of Assembly beginning on Monday, the forum reiterated the need for inclusion of Kapus in the list of BCs. He said that if the demand is not conceded , the forum will relaunch an indefinite hunger strike in Hyderabad and at New Delhi from July 25.

He urged the Government to set up a Kapu Development Corporation with Rs. 1,000 crore fund for the uplift of the community. He also demanded the government to increase scholarships to the Kapu students and increase the allocation from Rs. 2 crore to Rs. 25 crore.
