Mediation efforts of Hanumanta Rao fails
Hyderabad, July 14, 2007The efforts of Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao to persuade the Khairatabad MLA P Janardhana Reddy not to go ahead with his indefinite fast from Monday failed. He was accompanied by APCC vice president KR Amos and called on Janardhana Reddy at his residence. After an hour long meeting with Janardhana Reddy, he said that it was too late to reconsider his decision.
He alleged that his phone was being taped. Meanwhile, Hanumantha Rao said that he will continue his efforts to persuade him to drop his proposed indefinite fast from Monday. However, Janardhana Reddy said that he would be the first person to exercise his franchise in favour of UPA Presidential nominee Pratibha Patil. He alleged that the decision to close the complaint filed by his wife against YS Ravindranath Reddy was due to political pressure. He accused KVP Ramachandra Rao of influencing the police to withdraw the case against Ravindranath Reddy.
At a press conference, he said that efforts were on the way to get him suspended from he party for continuing tirade against the Chief Minister. He even threatened to drag the City Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh to the court. Even though the police denied permission to launch his indefinite fast at Indira Park, he would sit in protest at his residence from Monday.
