Chief Minister gives green signal for ShaktiGrams

Bio-Diesel Society to submit detailed proposals

Hyderabad, July 14, 2007

The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy has formally approved the proposal to establish ShaktiGrams in all mandals in the State. He asked the Bio Diesel Society of India (AP Chapter) to submit a detailed proposal.

The Chief Minister, after inaugurating the AP Chapter of Bio-diesel Society of India (BSI) on Saturday, cautioned the entrepreneurs to be more vigilant when doing experiments as the result should be tangible. The BSI secretary general Bharat Thakkar said that the organization had been proposing ShaktiGrams in all mandals where bio-diesel plantation would be taken up in 1,000 acres meeting the requirements of the villages and added that it would provide employment to the youth to nearly 4.5 lakh in addition to giving 10 lakh green cover and Rs. 2,000 crore annual income.

ICRISAT director general William Dar stressed the need for more research and development on suitable seeds for Indian weather conditions. The Minister for Agriculture, N Raghuveera Reddy and the Minister for Rural Development G Chinna Reddy were present on the occasion.
