State Government to press him for more funds
Hyderabad, July 10, 2007The proposed visit of the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh to the State on July 31, the State Government is planning to utilize the opportunity to secure more funds from the Central Government and also obtain clearances for several proposals pending with the Centre. Highly placed sources said that the Central Government which is more concerned about food security is likely to support all the programmes which help in increasing agricultural production.
The recent visit of Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia is understood to have advised the State Government to focus on agriculture while making a presentation to the Prime Minister. The State Government seeks to apprise the Prime Minister about the host of irrigation projects and new agricultural initiatives taken up in the State.
According to available sources, the Chief Minister, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy held a meeting with senior officials on the issues to be brought up to the notice of the Prime Minister.
