Addressing a press conference on Sunday, the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that a new health insurance scheme ‘Arogyasri’ for white cardholders and will be implemented from January 14 in Anantapur, Mahabubnagar and Srikakulam districts to start with. He said that it would be extended to other districts depending upon the response.
He said that the insurance scheme would cover 11 terminal diseases including cancer, cardiac, kidney, brain fever and even burns. The beneficiaries would be paid Rs. 2 lakhs towards treatment.
On irrigation front, the Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that most of the 26 irrigation projects launched by his government had been progressing well except Polavaram project due to legal problems. He also promised that Vamsadara Phase 2 would be completed by next year-end. Despite slow pace of work due to various reasons including merger allocations.
