Six-member committee to study the issue
Hyderabad, January 3, 2007
The crisis over the closure of 24 bus depots of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) ended on Wednesday with the management agreeing to set up a six-member panel to study the issue and submit a report within two months. The panel includes two representatives of the recognized National Mazdoor Union (NMU) and four executive directors of the corporation. This was decided at a meeting with the NMU leaders held with the APSRTC Chairman and Managing Director Dinesh Reddy.
The management also agreed to announce a package for the employees on several conditions including transfer of employees. Speaking to media, APSRTC Chairman G. Prakash Rao assured that none of the routes in rural areas would be curtailed and the commuters would not be put to any inconvenience.
