Auto drivers calls off strike

Government agrees to extent deadline

Hyderabad, January 29, 2007

The eight-day strike by the auto rickshaw drivers associations have on Monday called off their strike. The strike was taken up in protest to the Government's insistence of installation of digital meters replacing the old meters.

After the auto drives unions had talks with the Government, they called off the strike following the assurance given by the Government to extend the dead line for extending the digital meters by another three months.
