Planning to give 40% tickets to youth

Hyderabad, January 28, 2007

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is planning to give 40 percent of the tickets in the next election to promising youth who display leadership qualities said the TDP party president N. Chandrababu Naidu speaking to media after signing his membership renewal form at his residence on Sunday.

It marked the formal launch of the party’s membership drive that is taken up once in two years. The current campaign will last till February 11. He said that the focus of the drive would be to explain the ‘misdeeds’ of the Congress Government and convince people and enlist them as active members of the party.

This apart, the party’s leadership at mandal, district and State level was to identify and pick up active, existing cadres to don leadership roles. The criteria would be how accessible the prospective leader was to both the party members and the public, he said.
