Two schools in rural areas in each district

With the objective of improving the standards in basic education, the Government is contemplating establishment of ‘Concept Schools’ under what is known as ‘Vidya Yagnam’ programme. To start with, at least two such schools mostly residential and co educations will be located in rural areas of each district under Public Private Partnership (PPP) from the next academic year. The curriculum would that of Central Board for Secondary Examinations (CBSE).
The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy reviewed at a meeting with the AP State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) and other top officials of the School Education Department. The State Government would involve philanthropic organizations, high income earning temples, State and Central owned public sector undertakings, charitable societies and academic institutions of repute to promote the initiative.
The State Government would provide 20 to 25 acres of land free to each institute and support the academic programmes. The government will participate in curriculum design, content development, providing expert advice and training teachers etc., The existing reservation system would continue and the fee structure which is being worked out for these residential schools would be subsidized for the benefit of SC,ST,BC and other weaker sections.
