Hyderabad, January 27, 2007
The power crises in the State are expected to get worse in the next couple of months before it gets better. Adding to the power crises is the advance arrival of summer this year causes worry to the AP Transco officials. According to AP Transco Chairman Rachel Chatterjee, demand for the Rabi is expected to each 180 million units by March, a record of sorts in ten years.
However, during the Republic Day celebrations, Rachel Chatterjee asserted that it is prepared to meet the challenges and ensure that the farmers will have a successful harvest and will ensure seven hours of free power to the farm sector.
The AP Transco is going ahead with its massive investment plan of Rs. 1500 crore this year to strengthen transmission and distribution net works and ensure quality power supply to the last mile.
