Vizianagaram ZP Chief Election put off indefinitely

Infighting over nominee gets more intense

Vijayanagaram, January 25, 2007

The election for the Zilla Parishad Chairperson’s post was postponed for the second day due to lack of quorum on Thursday. The sharp difference between the Minister for Marketing Botsa Satyanarayana and the Minister for Forests, S Vijayarama Raju forced the postponement of the election.

This time, it was the turn of the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) members owing allegiance to Satyanayana to abstain from the ZP meeting though Vijayarama Raju relented. He agreed the choice of Satyanarayana’s candidate and all the nine followers to attend the meeting but they chose to stay away.
