Rangareddy, January 24, 2007In what is considered an important judgment in recent times, the Fifth Additional District and Sessions Judge of the Ranga Reddy District Court has awarded death sentence for Chandrabushan Upadhyay and life term for Munna Kumar, Moni Singh and Maheswar for the killing of Baldev Raj Seth, an officer with the Railways and his family. The sister of Upadhyay, Anju Chouby was given a three-year jail term.
Upadhyay and co were involved in the brutal killing of the family members of Seth in their bunglow at Mettuguda on March 17, 2003. The dead bodies were carried in a car and burnt to ashes. The police did their best and got the murders and those who helped them and dragged them to court. The court examines 42 witnesses and a number of exhibits before giving the judgment.
Experts in legal field say that the judgment gains prominence in the wake of death sentence in Andhra Pradesh as there was no such judgment awarded in recent times.
