64 persons died in the incident

The last week’s boat mishap in Krishna river at Manchalakatta in Mahabubnagar district is almost over as the Navy divers and local fishermen recovered 14 more bodies. So far, the number of bodies recovered has gone upto 60. According to authorities, one more body is yet to be recovered while the local said that 64 persons died in the incident.
The District Collector Dana Kishore and Superintendent of Police, B. Malla Reddy were present at the mishap site and supervised the rescue operations. The Minor Irrigation Minister M. Mareppa visited the site.
The district administration has distributed the food packets to the relatives of the victims as most of the people did not cook for the last four days. According to local fishermen say that the bodies would have been traced on the second day itself if they were allowed to search for them earlier.
