Education Minister clarifies on DSC 2006

No cancellation as lakhs of careers at stake

Hyderabad, January 20, 2007

The School Education Minister, N. Rajya Lakshmi on Saturday has put an end to the doubts over the future of District Selection Committee (DSC)-2006. She ruled out the cancellation of DSC examination recruitment held last year in the wake of irregularities in Kadapa district.

Speaking to media, she said that there is no question of canceling the examination as the career of lakhs of candidates is at stake. She said that a decision would be taken in couple of days whether or not to cancel the Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) (Telugu) test conducted in Kadapa district after receiving a detailed report from the District Collector.

She added that a probe into the Kadapa scam revealed that the OMR sheets of SGT (Telugu) was tampered with to favour candidates who alleged paid money to the middlemen. She said that information from the District Collectors in the State revealed that no such incidents have taken place anywhere except Kadapa. The Police had already commenced an inquiry while the accused had been arrested.
