Hyderabad, January 13, 2007At a glittering function on Saturday a Ravindra Bharati, the Union Minster for Social Justice Meira Kumar presented Akkineni Nageswara Rao award to actress Shabana Azmi for her contribution to service to Indian cinema. The award ceremony presented an opportunity for personalities from all walks of life to wax eloquent about the achievements of Shabana and recall Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s unparalleled contribution to the Telugu Industry in the last 65 years.
Union Minister of State for Mines, T. Subbirami Reddy is his address showered praises on Ms. Shabana Azmi and Nageswara Rao. Speaking on the occasion, Nageswara Rao said that the work by Shabana Azmi for social cause and pointed out that it was very tough for film personalities to shine both as a social activist and on the screen.
Responding to the award presentation, she thanked Nageswara Rao for recognizing her work and bestowing the award on her. Top dignitaries from various fields participated in the function.
