106 Yanadi families agree to take possession

Cuddapah, February 6, 2007

The status of 106 Yanadi families of K.Chennarayasamudram, Reddivaripalli and Tiranmpall in Kadapa district is going to be changed from landless poor to that of land owning families. The Chief Minister, Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy will hand over pattas to them on Wednesday for 2.62 acres each from the 997 acres surrendered by his family to the Government.

The District Collector, MT Krishna Babu said that the lands were originally given to Rao Sahib Raghava Reddy in 1940 by then British Government by way of settlement patta and subsequently came to be owned by Madras Forest Plantation India Company Limited belonging to Dr.Reddy’s family through secondary and tertiary deals.

These lands would now go to the landless poor while 321 aces at Vempally fo Vemana University for setting up a 21 Century Gurukulam. The District Collectors further said that though several persons had been served notices for possessing assigned lands, including 120 high profile families in the district, all of them preferred litigation. He said Yanadis along with two BC families would be given 310 acres of land individually while the rest would remain a community property with a 10-member committee overlooking its development and maintenance.
