Vijayanagaram, February 5, 2007

The Zilla Parishad Chairman's election ended with Denkada ZPTC B. Appala Naidu being elected to the post at a special meeting held on Monday. Appala Naidu is a close relative of Botsa Satyanarayana, the Minister for Marketing. He defeated the TDP Candidate and Vizianagaram ZPTC Y. Ramana Murty by 13 votes while Appala Naidu secured 23 votes while Ramana Murty got 10 votes.

Meanwhile, ZP Vice Chairman G. Sudarsana Rao, who was backed by the Minister for Forests S. Vijayarama Raju submitted resignation for the post in against the party's decision against choosing a person from Koppula Velama caste to which he belongs. The District Collector and election officer B. Kishore rejected his resignation letter on the ground that it was addressed to ZP Chief executive Officer instead of the district collector.
