Opposition claims as anti poor
Hyderabad, February 28, 2007
The Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu addressing a press conference on Wednesday said that the Union budget was anti poor and it skipped key issues like tackling inflation, price rise, unemployment problem and row over Special Economic Zones (SEZs). He said that though the budget was farmer friendly, there was no focus on agriculture and rural development. He opined that it seemed to be on achieving growth rate oblivious of human development and welfare.
He was highly critical of the way service tax was increased and said it would cast a burden on the common man. He said that allotment of fertile land and concessions to SEZ has becoming a big issue during the last few months.
The BJP national secretary N. Indrasena Reddy at a press conference said that the Central budget was pro-rich and failed to provide relief to farmers and middle class and the poor. He commented that the Finance Minister failed to spell out measures for tackling the price rise.
