BV Raghavulu calls off fast
Hyderabad, February 27, 2007The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy's announcement in the House that the State Government conceding the demands put forth by CPM State secretary BV Raghavulu. He called off the five-day-old hunger strike following his announcement. Meanwhile, the activists of Kulavivaksha Vyatireka Porata Sangam (KVVPS) also ended their strike on Tuesday afternoon.
The Chief Minister said that the SC, ST Commission will be revived by April 14. On demand for a nodal agency for monitoring the expenditure of SC, ST Component Plan, a five-member official delegation will visit Maharastra. He also assured the creating awareness on Dalit issues will be given special focus during the Prajapatham.
The Social Welfare Minister, Redya Naik visited the hunger strike camp and offered limejuice to Raghavulu. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) deputy floor leader T. Devender Goud, CPM floor leader N. Narasimhaiah, Congress MLA D. Manikya Vara Prasad and CPI (ML) New Democracy MLA G. Narasaiah were present.
